  • Incorporate environmental factors into business decisions; and
  • Increase employee awareness and training.

Waste Management

Dion’s Bus Service continues to commit to the identification and segregation of hazardous waste (e.g. waste oil, coolant and batteries) and have all collection and disposal performed by licenced specialists.

Systems are in place to ensure that all fittings that dispense diesel, AdBlue, oils at workshops, and fuel bays are operational, and that there is immediate rectification of leaks when discovered by workshop supervisors when performing maintenance checks.

Fuel Consumption

Dion’s Bus Service monitors the fuel consumption on all buses against best business practices, to ensure that we can identify drivers that may require further training to assist in the reduction of inefficiencies.  Annual review of Networks will assist in identifying the ability to reduce dead running and unnecessary emissions where possible.

Dion’s Bus Service Staff will be advised not to leave buses idling unnecessary, to reduce emissions both through noise and air pollution.

Spill Kits

Spill kits are provided on selected fleet to assist in the prevention of a diesel spill while Buses are in service.  Spill kits are also available in the depot and on the Maintenance vehicle to assist in this area if a diesel spill occurs.

A spill kit is also available at the bowser area in the event of an incident. All employees are trained in the use of spill kits both on board the Bus and in depot.

Training

Dion’s Bus Service ensures all staff are aware of the environmental process, and their responsibilities in relation to minimising their impact on the environment.  This starts with the contribution of staff toward the establishing of targets, the monitoring, and the communication of progress of actual against targets within the environmental plan to staff.

Ongoing training and communication on matters that supports environmental sustainability, is paramount in ensure that we can meet our objectives.
